PDCA cycle-guided individualized evidence-based nursing significantly promotes neurological and motor recovery, improves psychological well-being, enhances self-management abilities, and optimizes overall quality of life in patients following intracerebral hemorrhage surgery.
Key Findings
Results
Post-intervention psychological status scores were significantly better in the PDCA-guided nursing group compared to the control group.
The study group exhibited significantly lower SAS (Self-Rating Anxiety Scale) scores than the control group post-intervention (p < 0.001)
The study group exhibited significantly lower SDS (Self-Rating Depression Scale) scores than the control group post-intervention (p < 0.001)
Prior to intervention, no significant differences existed between the two groups in SAS or SDS scores (p > 0.05)
Results
Post-intervention neurological function was significantly improved in the PDCA-guided nursing group compared to the control group.
NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) scores were significantly lower in the study group than the control group post-intervention (p < 0.001)
Lower NIHSS scores indicate better neurological function
No significant difference in NIHSS scores existed between groups prior to intervention (p > 0.05)
Results
Post-intervention motor function and activities of daily living were significantly higher in the PDCA-guided nursing group than in the control group.
Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA) scores were significantly higher in the study group than the control group post-intervention (p < 0.001)
Barthel Index (BI) scores were significantly higher in the study group than the control group post-intervention (p < 0.001)
No significant differences in FMA or BI scores existed between groups prior to intervention (p > 0.05)
Results
Post-intervention self-management ability was significantly higher in the PDCA-guided nursing group than in the control group.
Post-intervention self-management ability scores in the study group were significantly higher than the control group (p ≤ 0.001)
No significant difference in self-management ability existed between groups prior to intervention (p > 0.05)
Results
Post-intervention quality of life was significantly higher in the PDCA-guided nursing group than in the control group.
Generic Quality of Life Inventory-74 (GQOLI-74) scores in the study group were significantly higher than the control group post-intervention (p ≤ 0.001)
No significant difference in GQOLI-74 scores existed between groups prior to intervention (p > 0.05)
Methods
The study enrolled 152 ICH patients divided into two nursing intervention groups with comparable baseline characteristics.
A total of 152 patients with ICH admitted to Gansu Provincial Hospital of TCM between March 2022 and March 2025 were included
Patients were divided into a control group (n = 79) receiving routine nursing care and a study group (n = 73) receiving individualized evidence-based nursing guided by the PDCA cycle
There were no significant differences in baseline characteristics between the two groups (p > 0.05)
